From Head and Shoulders comes this short spot featuring
Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety Troy Polamalu and Minnesota Twins’ catcher Joe
Mauer. Going with the sports route again, I think this is a pretty funny
commercial if you’ve seen the previous ones put out by Head and Shoulders
featuring Polamalu. Head and Shoulders is really trying to expand its market
share as not only a dandruff shampoo, but one that has seven benefits. In 2010,
Proctor and Gamble took out a $1 million insurance policy on his hair. What do
you guys think?

Anything with Super Bowl winning Troy Polamalu has my vote. I think this is a pretty good ad that has the support of Troy Polamalu – which makes the product incredible. If Troy Polamalu uses this product and has really expensive hair, then I’m definitely going to use this product on my hair.
Comment by Nick Mascio April 18, 2011 @ 2:41 pmI give head and shoulders credit for trying to be funny about their shampoo commercials. It seems like so many commercials for hair products are abstract and lose me (granted, I am not really the target market.) I agree that head and shoulders seems more well known for dandruff control, but I think they have really nailed down how to access guys and attempt to expand their market share through two of the best players in their respective sports.
Comment by Sam Huppert April 18, 2011 @ 3:00 pmHead and shoulders tapped two of the best athletes in their sports for this ad and it paid off. I know a lot of guys who think this ad is very funny and they can relate to it since they know the athletes. Being able to relate to the ad is crucial for whatever product you’re selling and this ad does a good job of appealing to men.
Comment by Matt Entringer April 23, 2011 @ 4:00 pmI mean it does seem a bit corny, but overall the ad does catch my attention as it uses athletes, instead of the typical girls with long flowing hair that are usually the ones in shampoo commercials I feel. I think it’s short, sweet, and overall a good one.
Comment by Rachel Belsha April 26, 2011 @ 1:31 amI like the ad. I think it is pretty funny. I also like the Head and Shoulders is trying to expand their general market to include the male population more.
