Here’s a McDonald’s ad featuring Orlando Magic superstar
Dwight Howard and a serviceable player for the Miami Heat, LeBron James. I’m a
big sports fan, and I always like when athletes are used to sell a product.
McDonald’s really doesn’t even feature the product too much in this commercial,
in my opinion. This is a take-off on the old commercial featuring Michael
Jordan and Larry Bird in 1993. In this commercial, I don’t really like the
super unrealistic dunks; I thought the original was much better, although the
two previous ones featuring Jordan Bird, and Charles Barkley all used
unrealistic shots. Lemme know what you think.

I liked the original ad with Bird and Jordan. It was a timeless ad that everyone was able to tie in with, for everyone remembers playing the backyard game of horse. I really like how McDonalds used current stars in the NBA to have a younger audience relate and feel for the commercial.
Comment by Nick Mascio April 18, 2011 @ 2:36 pmI hate that they didn’t just use the old commercial for this. Ya updating it with howard and lebron was nice and all, but it’s not even the original idea of a game of horse. Bird and Jordan made it look that much more fun. This commercial is just way too fake for words and that bothers the ever living hell out of me. It’s weird that when I think of timeless commercials, I think of the bird/jordan one, to ruin it with something like this is just wrong.
Comment by Colin Ball April 19, 2011 @ 11:41 amI have to agree with Colin. I didn’t like this ad very much because it messed with the original. The original was clever and classic. This one is forgettable and boring. The dunks just aren’t as appealing as the insane shots that Bird and Jordan did in the original. I found it a poor attempt at playing upon the original.
Comment by Matt Entringer April 23, 2011 @ 4:03 pmI have never seen the original but, i did not liek this commercial.
Comment by Tori Guadarrama April 27, 2011 @ 7:37 pmIt didnt really focus on the product.
I do not think that this ad is original at all. This has been done by so many products it looses its significance.
